Pastor Lantz G. Mills, Sr. is the Senior Pastor/Teacher of the New Dayspring Missionary Baptist Church in Lake City, FL.  Pastor Mills was born and raised in Detroit, MI. He is the seventh of ten children. He is married to the former Lakisha J. Chappell. Pastor and Lady Mills reside in Lake City with their beautiful children.

 

Pastor Mills was educated in the Wayne County (MI) and Orange County (FL) Public School System.  Upon graduating from West Orange High School, he went on to join the United States Marine Corps and later he enrolled at Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA.  He received his Associate Degree from Belhaven University, there he also received his Bachelor of Science in Business Management in Jackson, Mississippi and he has a Master’s Degree in Theology from Middle Florida Theological Seminary in Ocala, Florida. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Theology from Middle Florida Theological Seminary in Ocala, Florida.

 

Pastor Mills accepted the call of Christ upon his life at the age of 26 at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist church in Orlando, FL.  In 2000, he surrendered to the Call of the Ministry; and preached his first sermon on April 23, 2000. Pastor Mills was licensed as a Minister of the Gospel on May 7, 2000 ordained in November 2002. Pastor Mills has been blessed by God to preach in various settings all around the United States of America.  

 

Prior to his current assignment from the Lord, Pastor Mills spent seven years with Universal Engineering Sciences Inc. in Orlando, FL as a Productivity and Dispatch Supervisor, before joining the staff of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Orlando, FL where he served as the Executive Pastor and Office Administrator.  Pastor Mills continues to do the will of God and fulfill the calling on his life. On December 19, 2008, Pastor Mills was called to be the Senior Pastor/Teacher of the New Dayspring Missionary Baptist Church of Lake City, FL where he currently effectively and efficiently gives leadership to the people of God. The New Dayspring Missionary Baptist Church is a strong church that is growing and thriving in the Lake City and Gainesville area.  Pastor Mills has embraced his new challenge and is leading the people of God to the next level.

 

Upon arriving in North Florida, Pastor Mills immediately went to work. Under his leadership several improvements have been implemented; the church’s sanctuary was remodeled, 10.5 acres of land was purchased, Bible Study was reorganized to include a Family Night on Wednesdays, Mission and Vision Statements were established, the church was incorporated, a 501c3 was established, a Church Logo was created, a Church Motto was adopted, and a Website was launched. In the time that Pastor Mills has been at New Dayspring the church’s membership has tremendously increased.  

 

Pastor Mills is also active outside of the church.  He currently serves as the Director of Meetings and Planning for the Florida General Baptist Convention Inc. He serves as 2nd Vice Moderator for the Suwanee River Progressive Missionary Baptist Association.  Pastor Mills’ community involvement includes being a member of the NAACP, and the prestigious Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

 

Pastor Mills lives his life as a man of God knowing that he has been called by God to preach a “Now Word” to this generation.  He has a clear understanding of 2 Timothy 4:2 and knows that he has to “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.”  Pastor Mills is a humble man who continues to, give God the glory for the great things that He has done.
